Criterion Flooring like most trade businesses gave little thought to their own brand positioning. However MD Neil Smith recognised the value of marketing and briefed Big Stick on bringing focus to the brand and increasing awareness of the Criterion Flooring service. After listening carefully to Neil in order to write web text ,we quickly realised that his experience, knowledge and passion for wood flooring gave him a distinct edge. He was fervent in telling us that wood is a natural product and needs to be nurtured accordingly to get the best results. After fitting the floor it needed time to acclimatise to the temperature of the environment or things could go badly awry.

We used Neil’s experience to position the brand at the top end of the market. We created a new logo which reflected this and used Neil’s knowledge tips and guidelines to make the text interesting, informative and engaging. It certainly worked, the site rated at 8/10 for functionality and 10/10 on mobile (most of Neil’s prospects use a mobile to source tradesmen). The Criterion Flooring site now gets a regular flow of enquiries which are the lifeblood of Neil’s business .  He supplements this with a high social media presence, web optimisation and a stream of case histories and blogs produced by Big Stick which, use case history’s to demonstrate a breadth of experience. A post card campaign is also being used to fuel referral business and to target prospects and further establish brand values.
